[Consumers: Please "Reply with History" when responding ]

Dear Consumer,

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request, at no charge to you, research of information in your credit file that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

You have reached the internet support group and unfortunately we cannot help you directly with this matter. The following procedure should however help you to resolve your difficulty.

If there is information contained in your Equifax credit report that you believe is in error or requires updating, you must first obtain your own current copy of this document (you cannot dispute information supplied directly by us to a credit grantor or other third party, or information on a credit report which is more than 30 days old). If you need to obtain a copy of your credit report please read section 1 and then section 2. If you already have a current copy of your credit report please proceed directly to section 2.

1 To obtain a copy of you Equifax Credit Profile.

This can be obtained via the following methods :

Online at our website : www.credit.equifax.com

Via our Automated System: 800-685-1111

Via a mailed request to :

Equifax Disclosure
PO Box 740241
Atlanta, Ga. 30374-0241
(On all written requests please remember to include your full name, social security number, address and most recent former address for identification purposes and ensure you include a personal check made payable to Equifax Credit Information Services Inc, if applicable, as indicated by the applicable state rate detailed below.)

Only consumers who have been denied credit within the past 60 days (based on information provided by Equifax) or residents of Georgia, Colorado, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts and Vermont are entitled by law to a free credit report (residents of Connecticut $5, Maine and Minnesota $3) and this can ONLY be obtained via the automated system or by a written request to our mailing address.

All other states are required to pay the $8.50 fee and may obtain their reports through any of the above methods.

Important note : All orders placed online are subject the standard fee of $8.50 regardless of residency or denial status.

2 To request an investigation on your Equifax Credit Profile

a) Locating your confirmation number
Once you have obtained your Equifax Credit Profile please locate the nine digit confirmation number which we need in order to access your credit file.

If you purchased your Equifax credit profile via the Internet, your confirmation number is located in red letters under the "Personal Data" section, at the bottom of the page. If the profile was purchased for US Mail delivery, the confirmation number is located in the upper right hand corner.

Some consumers may not receive a confirmation number. This indicates your file is Affiliate owned. Affiliate offices share the Equifax database but control the territory in which you reside. Because they maintain ownership of your credit profile, you must initiate any request to dispute information contained in the file directly with that office. If you reside in an Affiliate owned area in the place of a confirmation number you will receive a telephone number for that Affiliate office to initiate an investigation. The on-line investigation feature is unavailable to consumers residing in Affiliate owned areas because the Affiliate office cannot process investigations via the Internet at this time. That office will instruct you on their investigation procedures.

b) Once you have located your confirmation number please choose one of the following methods to initiate your investigation
On-line (not available to consumers residing in affiliate regions)

Either click on the link below to go straight to the relevant page on our website

Click here to initiate an on-line investigation

Or go to our website www.equifax.com and then from the menu displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen select 'Personal Solutions' and then 'Online Investigation' to take you to the same screen.

Please read this screen carefully for detailed instructions on the investigation process.

By telephone

For consumers with Equifax owned files (i.e with a confirmation number)

Please call 1-888-532-0179 and provide your confirmation number to verify that you have already obtained a credit report by mail or internet order from Equifax.

For consumers residing in affiliate regions (i.e. no confirmation number)

Please contact directly the Customer Service Department servicing your area to initiate a dispute by telephone. If you purchased your credit profile via the Internet, the telephone number is located in the same area as the confirmation number listed above. If purchased via US Mail, the telephone number is located in the upper right hand corner.

By Mail (all consumers)

In any correspondence please be specific regarding the nature of your dispute e.g. account: "not mine", "paid in full", etc. and include any documentation that may help us verify your claim. It is especially helpful to send photocopies of your social security card and driver's license for name updates. It is also recommended that any request for address update include a current utility bill in your name or driver's license showing the correct address.

For consumers with Equifax owned files (i.e with a confirmation number)

Please write to

Equifax Disputes
PO Box 740256
Atlanta, Ga. 30374-0256
For consumers residing in affiliate regions (i.e. no confirmation number)

The correct mailing address for your investigation is located on your credit profile. To prevent delay of your investigation, please address all inquiries to the proper location. Any request for investigations received at the PO Box listed above belonging to an Affiliate office will be forwarded to that office.

Credit Grantors are required to respond to Customer Service within 30 days of a verification request. Upon completion of an investigation, Customer service will send consumers an updated credit profile via US Mail. Please direct all enquiries regarding the status of your investigation to the Customer Service Department that services your area at the telephone number listed on your credit profile.
Thank you,

Customer Care
